Abstract
Despite the efforts of the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic to improve its education system, the country has achieved poor results in its participation in PISA 2015 and 2018. Undoubtedly, the media has played a significant role in disseminating these developments within society. This study aims to describe the presence of PISA in articles published in three Dominican newspapers between 2015 and 2022. The findings reveal a growing interest in PISA within the press. Most of the articles are news stories that utilize PISA as evidence to discuss student performance and the quality of the education system. However, a predominantly negative tone is prevalent in the majority of the articles. It can be concluded that the Dominican press has contributed to fueling the debate on the quality of education, thereby fulfilling one of the primary objectives of the OECD.
